There are dozens of books and websites ready to offer you diametrically opposed perspective about the controversial "religion" called Scientology. So who do you believe? Well, as in every case when truthfulness is in question, you have to consider the source. Are you going to believe the "defendants" (I.e., Church of Scientology) accused of stalking, fraud, kidnapping, bugulary, and even being a de facto accomplice to murder, OR do you believe the hundreds of victims charging them with those crimes. It COULD be argued that both have bias agendas. The answer? - find an independent source with no personal agenda. The "Truth Rundown" written by reporters from the Tampa Bay Times - a source without any agenda other than the TRUTH is that source. Start by Readers reading this THEN decide for yourself which side to is telling the truth and which is propagating propaganda. But don't stop there. There are several other books written by journalist on the subject. I've read many and would highly recommend the Reitman book - explains the history of Scientology, its progenitor and its current leader who describes himself as "Pope of Scientology." Every American need to know the Truth.
I read this in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. It's hard to believe this happens in real life.
This book should be smuggled in to every Scientology Center. David Miscavidge is certifiably insane in my opinion! Napoleon complex!
I've been fascinated with the topic of Scientology lately and this was just one more article that I opted to buy and read. A good quick read and well written. I guess I could have found it on the Tampa Bay Times website but I liked that I could download this to my phone and read it at my leisure.
A great journalism piece about the most bizarre cult still in existence.
Read it straight through. Cannot understand how this organization still exists with the amount of criminal activity that has gone on.
did not realize it was just a listing of articles of a situation that happen in Scientology that almost took them down ... I am researching why the heck anyone would get involved in all of this to begin with --- this read did not help with that research. But, if you are looking for scandals regarding this group and the background of those scandals... this was a doozie and a good read.
Well-written. Good overview of the mess going on in Clearwater and California. But not really worth paying for as a book.
