I read this book in an hour or so. It’s a page turner. And so cool to see how Tony hawk became who he is today. Love that guy
My son had to choose a biography for a report at school so he asked if we could find a book about a skater. This is what we got. After his report was done, he probably read it another 5-6 times, and educated me on all things Tony Hawk. He wasn't necessarily a TH fan prior to reading this book, but he really learned a lot about the skateboarding history, and about persevering in the face of challenges.
Ordered this for a preteen who lives at the beach in San Diego, so he was already familiar with Tony. He found the book to hold his interest and he learned new things about Tony Hawk.
I was a skater back in the day when Tony was just an up and comer. It is very cool how this book filled in all the blanks on stories I had heard about via that the mags back in the day.. I really enjoyed reading it even though it was written on a very young kids level.
Bought this book to add to my classroom library for a "Remarkable People" biography unit for my 6th graders. Five of my students have read this book now and it is still being passed around. It's often difficult to find biographies that really grab the attention of 6th graders--this one definitely does!
This book arrived in great shape. The skateboarding enthusiast I gave the book to was thrilled with it. The book is geared pretty much for his age-group (16). It is a paperback, but not a very high-end paperback - the paper is inexpensive. But for his purposes, the book is fine. As an avid skateboarder, he was very happy with the photos, biography and chapters about Tony Hawk's moves on a skateboard. I had never heard of this skateboarder (I am a grandmother and not up on skateboarders), but he had and was very happy I picked this book for him. The book arrived within the timeframe given and in plenty of time for Christmas.
My 8 year old enjoyed reading this book and learning about Tony Hawk!
Perfect book for my 5th grader and conveniently loaded to his Kindle and my Android. Great read for any skate board lover!
