A paperback of Mr Syed Jafri's God and god of Science was forwarded to me by a close friend who is interested on my take on it as a former agnostic and a current believer. Mr Jafri's book encapsulates a massive amount of 'knowledge' from traditional sources related to some the deepest questions that have been asked about the meaning of one's existence. And about God. I myself found the multiple references to primary Islamic/Shia sources particularly enlightening about the depth of this tradition. It is dense, at times making one feel as if one is drinking from a firehose; a book that opens with chapters about 'knowledge' itself would disappoint if it were not so however. I look forward to finishing it soon.
"God and god of Science" is piece of work for curious minds. Whether you are in discovery phase of your association with God or fully committed to religious view or are far removed from such concept, this book brings back you to basic question of existence and discusses this subject intellectualy. Spoiler alert, the book goes back to the original sources to understand the religious view of God but it is convincing specially when explained from a writer who himself is fully equipped to understand scientific position of God."God and god of Science" is the first effort by Syed Hasan Jafri yet he has been very pure in his approach. The writing appears to be in the form of lectures yet it answers your questions one after another. The book clearly anticipates that you are reading it while putting your biases aside but at the same time understand the position author is trying to take. It clearly doesn't want you to change your position however, compels you to establish an open view on spirituality.God and god of Science is beautifully laid in 16 chapters with each chapter being a work in itself. Despite the enormity and complexity of the subject, the writer does a great job in moving fast rather than going spiral on a single concept. It is a quick read. I was able to finish in 3 days however, for a beginner in philosophy some of the concepts might require going back to the text and re reading. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more writings by Syed Hasan Jafri.
I think it's important to clarify that this book is better suited for someone who is already Muslim (more specifically Shia) and is either struggling with to reconcile their faith with new-age science or Muslims who are interested in knowing further on the solid ground of their religion. The book uses the Qur'an, hadith/quotes from various Imams and scholars, as well as scientific details (secondary) to establish why utilizing an Islamic framework to understand our world does not compete with science, but rather bridges it with other forms of truth that cannot be quantified through the scientific method.I think someone who is an atheist, agnostic or anti-theist will struggle with this book; as many of the sources of knowledge which Dr. Raza posits as arguments are directly from the Qur'an (i.e., someone who does not even believe in the Qur'an will not understand how that proves anything) but personally as someone who is studying Psychology at a PhD level and is seeking to better understand the Islamic traditions of 'truth', this book really helped me better understand the prescience of Islam as a holistic worldview, that the boundaries of science cannot come near. I needed to understand my religion better to understand science better and through that paradigm, this book helped immensely. Very much recommended!
Fantastic read! Dr. Jafri goes above and beyond to discuss the Quran and monotheism in our society today and the application of principles in our daily lives. Since I have not read the Quran, I truly enjoyed the source of origin he quotes in Arabic throughout his chapters. One of the most wonderful things I discovered about this read is that being a Christian it strengthened my belief and helped me to understand a larger picture of religion. Thank you Dr. Jafri for a stimulating and powerful book! I look forward to reading more of your books soon...

A fascinating book!! Read this book if you want to learn if God exists or if you want to know the purpose of our existence. It is a must read if you want to increase your love for God.
