As a mental health counselor for families and a new aunt I am always on the hunt for quality children's books. I purchased this book for my new niece and nephew and I love to read it to them. While it will be some time until the babies can enjoy the pictures and message of the book, the narrative for the story offers a "poetic like" rhythm that can by said in a sing song voice which small children love. Pictures are fairly detailed and full of emotion which parents and caregivers can use to engage older children in "question and answer" conversation about what the child sees in the pictures. Also, I like the story, pictures and message so I don't mind reading it as the adult. The first time I picked this book up and read it to myself, I almost teared up for the last two pages. I am hoping that as my niece and nephew grow, this book will help create discussions about how sacred life is and how we are all connected. It is never too early to teach children that they are safe, loved and connected to the world around them. I will be recommending this book to friends and will definitely grab a copy for my own children one day!

I have read this book to my son almost every day during his first year. I cannot say enough how much I love this book. I could say the entire thing by memory. The message and drawings are beautiful and the tone is so peaceful and calming for baby (and mom!). It's a perfect read before bedtime or nap time. It's my husbands go to if our LO is fussy before bed and can't calm down. Whenever a baby shower asks for a book in lieu of a card, I choose this one! Perfect for boys or girls, babies or toddlers.

Such a great little story. Excellent illustrations, simple wording but has a beautifully larger picture message about how the world is grand but comes down to the little important things. A sweet and enjoyable book my 18 month old keeps wanting to read again and again.

This book is just lovely. The rhythm of the words is very soothing, and I love the vintage look of the pictures. The concepts are a little abstract for kids but the sound of the book is beautiful and they will enjoy it anyway.

My 3 year old grandson loves this book so much. He pours over each page, looking at all the detailed illustrations of what is happening on that page. He already has the words memorized and asks to go back repeatedly and revisit certain scenes from the book. Its a great book with a wonderful inclusive message.

This book and its illustrations is an engaging read, with a cadence that makes it easy for an adult to sound like a poet, helping to enchant their child with scenes they can easily place themselves into. Its message of togetherness is seamlessly and quietly imparted to child and adult alike.

The books is basically a really beautiful illustrated poem. Sadly, my toddler doesn't seem interested and the books describes concepts toddlers don't really understand.

Beautifully illustrated, nicely worded, but both illustrations and words are geared more toward the adult reading it than toward the child listening. Our children didn't engage with this book as they would with, say, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon, but they enjoy hearing it once in a while, and it's a pleasure to read it to them.
